A group of governing Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) parliamentarians was engaged in a conversation during the recent parliamentary sessions on the young Members of Parliament (MPs) who are still single and eligible bachelors.

Among the eligible bachelor MPs that were being named, the names of Minister Kanchana Wijesekera and State Minister D.V. Chanaka had also come up.

One of the MPs in the group had said that SLPP MP Namal Rajapaksa should be asked to help find girlfriends for these bachelor MPs.

However, another MP in the group had said that there was no need for Namal to make any introductions since both Kanchana and Chanaka had girlfriends. “In fact, Chanaka’s girlfriend is from his village and Namal knows her,” the MP had added.
