The Postal Department has temporarily suspended the distribution of ballot papers for the 2020 general election in areas where health authorities have imposed travel restrictions and houses have been placed under quarantine over Covid-19.
Postmaster General Ranjith Ariyaratne has told the media that distribution will be suspended in areas that have been placed in quarantine until instructions are received from the Health Ministry.
The distributing of ballot papers commenced on Monday (13).
Accordingly, close to 8,000 postal workers attached to over 2,000 post offices are engaged in the distribution of ballot papers.
