Bill declaring minimum age of marriage presented

  The first Private Member’s Bill of the ninth Parliament has been submitted by governing party Member of Parliament (MP) Pramitha Bandara Tennakoon. The parliamentarian has said the relevant Bill was handed over to the Secretary General of Parliament, Dhammika Dasanayake on Wednesday (26). The Bill is aimed at declaring the minimum age of marriage for children as 18 years. Tennakoon has insisted that children should be given equal rights despite their nationalities and that this law should be established in the country without delay.
