Cinnamon City Weddings – an exquisite venue display – took place last week in such grand scale. The event was a joint attempt between Cinnamon Grand and Cinnamon Lakeside to showcase their stunning wedding venues. We were beguiled by the hotel’s clever utilisation and transformation of the properties, capable of accommodating exquisite weddings, hen parties, and stag nights for the bachelors and bachelorettes. The event was indeed impressive as it showcased a startling number of 19 venues, including the renowned Oak Room, Atrium, 8° on the Lake, The Waterside, as well as those that have been left unexploited as wedding locations, such as the Angsana Garden, Ivy room, Nuga Gama, and The Sequel.
“We’ve transformed so many locations within our two hotels into wedding venues, unthinkable or never thought of, and the venues have been turned around with the help of our partners…mainly florists,” stated Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts Sector Head and Head of Brand Development Rohan Karr.
Touring through the venues, it was truly enticing to witness how the simplest of effects such as flowers and twigs were utilised to render stunningly beautiful decor geared by the 25 event partners who had worked day and night to make this event a reality. Assistant Vice President and Head of Marketing Communications –City Hotels Tharika Goonathilake noted: “We gave couples an opportunity to see how their big day would be if they walked with the right people”. High-end designers and salons were also present to showcase trending themes and wedding wear to its attendees.
Interestingly, couples who were to get registered on that day were in for a treat as they were entitled to a series of benefits including numerous discounts by the event partners as well as the hotel. Notable ones included a 50% discount from Cinnamon valid till 2020, and a wedding brochure consisting of a directory with 40 coupons worth more than Rs.200,000 in discounts. Following this, Karr said that they were able to reach a staggering number of 90 bookings within that day, which was unanticipated. He said: “This was never the target; it was simply to get people inside the door, let them have a look, see the potential, and to see what could be done”.
