Cabinet appoints committee to inquire into strikes

The Cabinet decided to appoint a five member sub committee to inquire into ongoing strikes in the country and provide solutions, Minister – Buddhist affairs and Wayamba Development , Gamini Jayawickrama Perera said.

The decision was taken at a special cabinet meeting held in the evening today.

Currently disabled soldiers, families of disabled soldiers, teachers, principals, and railway trade unions have launched strikes demanding that salary and pension anomalies be bridged immediately.

The strikes have affected state transport and other public services.
