Central Committee of SLFP to meet tomorrow

The Central Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party is scheduled to meet tomorrow (08).

Minister of State Lasantha Alagiyawanna stated that the Central Committee will convene under the chairmanship of former President Maithripala Sirisena.

It is reported that the future activities of the party and the current political situation in the country will be discussed at length.

Meanwhile, a special discussion was held between SLFP parliamentarians at the residence of former President Maithripala Sirisena yesterday afternoon.

It is stated that the matters to be discussed in the Central Committee were discussed at length here.

Meanwhile, the name of Basil Rajapaksa, who was nominated for the National List seat of the Podujana Peramuna, will be gazetted today, says the Election Commission of Sri Lanka.

The Chairman of the Commission, Attorney-at-Law Nimal G. Punchihewa stated that the Election Commission will meet this morning to take a decision in this regard.

Accordingly, the name of Basil Rajapaksa as a Member of Parliament will be published in a gazette notification.

It is reported that Basil Rajapaksa is scheduled to be sworn in as a Member of Parliament tomorrow.
