A French champion jockey has been placed under formal investigation for rape.

Pierre-Charles Boudot, 28, is accused of assaulting a woman at a party in February.

He denies any wrongdoing. Boudot, who won the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in 2019, has been released on Euro 50,000 bail.

Another jockey, Pierre Bazire, is also being investigated for failing to report a crime.

Bazire does not appear to have publicly commented.
