Despite the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka’s recent confirmation that 1mn doses of the Sinovac vaccine will be provided to the people of Sri Lanka, State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Prof. Channa Jayasumana said that a decision on where these vaccines would be administered has not been taken yet.
“Over half the population of Sri Lanka has already been administered with at least one dose of anti Covid-19 vaccines. There is no particular place to send the Sinovac Vaccine for administration so far,” he said.
Prof. Jayasumana also mentioned that such decisions will be taken by the Communicable Disease Committee.
