UPDATE: The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) will seek to lift the Detention Order (DO) on Dr. Shafi Shihabdeen, lawyers representing the doctor told The Sunday Morning.
The CID told the Kurunegala Magistrate's Court today that investigations found that there was no links between Dr. Shafi and terrorism.
Investigators had also recorded statements from 615 women and found no evidence to prove illegal sterilization had been carried out by the Kurunegala doctor.
The CID had earlier today informed court that there was no evidence to prove the allegations of illegal sterilizing of women by Dr. Shafi.
The CID had also informed court that reports by some media on the allegations against the doctor were false.
