Cop nabbed while in possession of 52kgs of heroin
The Organized Crimes Prevention Division of Sri Lanka police arrested three suspects who were in possession of a total of 52 kilograms of heroin yesterday (18).
One of the suspects has been identified as a Sub Inspector attached to the Kalutara South police, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated.
The police officer in question, who was in uniform at the time of the arrest, was reportedly taken into custody while transporting 50 kilograms of heroin in the area of Hikkaduwa.
The arrests were made during a special operation carried out on in the southern parts of the country, especially in Ahangama, Hikkaduwa and Baddegama areas, the police spokesman added.
Additionally, 2 vehicles used by the arrestees have been seized.
The arrestees will be produced before courts and the police intend to obtain a 7-day detention order on the suspects.
