COVID-19 committee could lift isolation if no risk of sub-clusters: Police

The COVID-19 Task Force would be able to lift the isolation status of isolated areas once the health authorities confirm that there is no tendency of emerging sub-clusters in the isolated areas, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said today.

He said nine police areas in Colombo and 25 Grama Niladhari Divisions in other parts remain isolated.

“Rapid Antigen tests and PCR tests are being conducted on the people in isolated areas, especially in condominiums, and results are waiting. If the health experts analyzing results confirm that there is no tendency of sub clusters, the COVID committee will be able to lift the isolation of all areas,” he said.

He said 41 suspects were arrested yesterday for violating quarantine regulations and said a total of 1,256 personnel have been arrested so far since October 30 for violating quarantine regulations.
