Dengue prevention assistants were deployed to ensure the continuous operation of Covid-19 prevention measures in the Beruwala and Kalutara Medical Officer of Health (MOH) Divisions.
This follows the launch of trade union action by all the Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) of the Beruwala and Kalutara MOH Divisions, who have withdrawn from operations.
The dengue prevention assistants will handle the quarantining of Covid-19 patients and other Covid-19-related activities in the assigned areas.
Commenting on the matter, Beruwala MOH Waruna Seneviratne said that PCR tests are carried out with the assistance of doctors and nurses.
Accordingly, Covid-19 control activities in the Beruwala area were being carried out successfully, he added.
