CWC launches protest against Govt. and rising cost of living

The Ceylon Workers' Congress (CWC) has launched an islandwide protest with estate workers and party members demanding the current government steps down and the cost of living be brought down, says CWC leader Senthil Thondaman. Speaking to The Morning, Thondaman said that the livelihoods of the working class have been effected very badly. “The livelihood of the working class people have been very badly effected. Estate workers and those in the central province are struggling in keeping up with the rise in the cost of living. We are demanding that the government steps down and the cost of living to be brought down to a more bearable state. We are protesting islandwide with party members and citizens who want a change," said Thondaman. When inquired about the number of citizens who have joined in the CWC protest, Thondaman mentioned that currently in Nuwara Eliya, over 300 individuals have joined and the numbers will keep rising as people join in.
