The government's decision on reopening schools and pre-schools will be officially announced today, Minister of Education Prof. G. L. Pieris stated.
The Minister said that this decision will be taken after an extensive discussion with the health sector.
Meanwhile, Governor of the Eastern Province Anuradha Yahampath has instructed the Provincial Secretary of Education to close all schools in the Trincomalee Division from today until further notice.
This was due to the discovery of 15 COVID patients in the Trincomalee city limits.
