Not so long ago, a spokesperson from the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) mentioned that both Sangakkara and Mahela promote cancerous food items and then participate in charity walks to raise funds to build cancer hospitals, revealing the utterly hypocritical side of these so-called legends’ greedy character.

Cristiano Ronaldo attending Portugal’s press conference ahead of his team’s opening Euro 2020 match against Hungary showcased his preference once again.
Ronaldo arrived at the press conference along with Coach Fernando Santos. Seeing a couple of Coca-Cola bottles in front of him, he decided to remove them from the camera angle altogether. He instead lifted a water bottle and asked everyone to ‘drink water’ instead.
Sri Lanka’s prominent stars, ranging from Mahela Jayawardene to Kumar Sangakkara to Bathiya Jayakody to Santhush Weeraman who are considered intelligent, erudite, and socially conscious role-models in our society perhaps have something to think about this global star’s extraordinary act.
Not so long ago, a spokesperson from the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) mentioned that both Sangakkara and Mahela promote cancerous food items and then participate in charity walks to raise funds to build cancer hospitals, revealing the utterly hypocritical aspect of these so-called legends’ greedy character.
Out of them all, both Sangakkara and Weeraman are considered popular figures with vast and versatile knowledge on a wide variety of subjects but it is absolutely unbelievable why they don’t know much about the health hazards of some of the food items which they ask the country’s children to consume.
Going by his most recent, brave move with regard to Coca Cola, Ronaldo here looks a different role-model with a bigger social consciousness than our own men.
“DO YOU GIVE THESE PRODUCTS FOR THE CONSUMPTION OF YOUR OWN KIDS?” One can in fact ask Sangakkara et al and it will be quite interesting to see what their answer would be. If not, why are they asking the society that indecisively hero-worships them to consume those globally controversial commodities?
Reporting on Ronald’s act at the said Euro 2020 press conference on Monday (14), the international media had the following to add:
Quite a few were left surprised seeing Ronaldo’s actions. Even coach Santos looked a little surprised to see Ronaldo removing the two bottles of Coca-Cola in front of him.
Ronaldo has set the benchmark for an ideal footballer over a long and illustrious career. Though there are those who feel that Lionel Messi is a better player than Ronaldo, there’s no denying that in terms of professionalism, the Portuguese is arguably the finest footballer ...
What is to be noted, however, is that the brand is an official sponsor of the tournament.
Ronaldo had previously opened about his dislike for junk food. The Juventus stalwart has explained his son about the same a few times too.
“I’m tough with my son,” Cristiano had recently said.
“Sometimes he drinks Coca-Cola and Fanta, he eats crisps, and he knows I don’t like it.”

The true role-model is one that hates the dollar when their society and their ardent followers are at risk by their act. Isn’t it?
