Following the death of the traffic OIC of the Borella Police Station who was the victim to a hit and run in February, the driver of the Defender involved in the incident has been remanded.
The driver will be remanded till 18 March as per the Colombo Fort Magistrate ruling.
IP Sarathchandra, 51 of the Borella Police Station was on his way to begin his shift at an event held that morning, he had met with an accident at the Bamabalapitiya junction where a speeding Defender had run him over in the early hours of the morning on February 24.
After being admitted to the Colombo National Hospital following the incident, IP Sarathchandra passed away on March 09 as he had sustained critical injuries from the accident
