Billionaire businessman Dudley Sirisena, who is the brother of former President Maithripala Sirisena, last week took a swipe at all parliamentarians, including his brother (Maithripala).
Sirisena made this comment during a media briefing held recently on rice supplies to the local market and prices. “People are suffering without even food to eat. The 225 in Parliament continue to make various statements,” he said. When questioned if his brother (Maithripala) was also included in the list of MPs, Sirisena said: “I said 225 and not 224, which means I refer to him (Maithripala) as well.”
Sirisena also slammed incumbent Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, saying that he (Sirisena) had commenced his battle against rogues in 2015 but that the mandate had been destroyed by then PM Wickremesinghe. He further claimed that those who had destroyed the country had now joined the rogues.
“We started the struggle to get rid of rogues in January 2015. But Ranil came and protected all the rogues. They broke into the Central Bank. I won’t even call him Prime Minister. Now all the rogues have gotten together. I’m not afraid to say these and I’m not afraid to die,” Sirisena charged.
