Dullas voices his stance on Yugadanavi deal

28 Sep 2021

Voicing his stance on the recent Yugadanavi Power Plant deal, Minister of Mass Media and Cabinet Spokesperson Dullas Alahaperuma stated that LNG supply within the country must not be given to a foreign nation. These statements were made at the Cabinet media briefing held today (28). "I made my stance known to the Cabinet clearly at that time, and I have now been fully informed about the new agreement. During that time, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Power made clarifications on this matter. My stance is and has always been that the monopoly of supplying something like LNG in the country should not be given to a foreign nation. That has always been my position,” he said. Alahaperuma went on to state that decisions made will be announced during Parliament sessions and that the constituent party leaders are due to meet with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in regard to the deal. Additionally, he confirmed that the Government will not enter an agreement which would be disadvantageous to the country.
