EC to decide another date for postal voting in Rajanganaya

14 Jul 2020

The Election Commission (EC) is yet to decide a date to carry out postal voting in the Rajanganaya areas. “The Commission must discuss the matter and decide on a date to conduct postal voting for the Rajanganaya region,” EC Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya told The Morning. Earlier on Sunday (12), the Commission announced that postal voting in the Rajanganaya area would be postponed due to the prevailing Covid-19 situation. He also noted that no other area has postponed postal voting. “So far, no other area has had to postpone their postal voting. However, each divisional secretariat has the power to postpone it if they deem it necessary.” Postal voting for the 2020 parliamentary election kicked off last morning (13). A total 705,085 voters are eligible to cast their postal votes.
