Former Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Director Shani Abeysekara, who is in remand custody at the Mahara Prison, has tested positive for COVID-19, health officials said. They said Abeysekara would be transferred to the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Centre via Welikada Prison. So far, 16 personnel at the Mahara Prison have tested positive for COVID-19.
