The Election Commission (EC) will accept expired driver’s licenses as proof of identification at the upcoming election. “Since the Department of Motor Traffic announced that the driver’s licence validity period had been extended for another six months, voters will be able to show their driver’s license as proof of identification at the election on Wednesday (5),” Election Secretariat Director General Saman Sri Rathnayake told The Morning. Furthermore, returning migrant workers are also required to produce their passport at the polling centre as proof of travel and identification.
