Fishermen in the North requested not to mingle with Indian fishermen in international waters
The Fisheries Department has asked fishermen in the North to refrain from having relations with Indian fishermen in international waters due to the Covid spread.
Fishermen are also requested not to trade or exchange goods, said Kalyani Hewapathirana, Director of Operations, Fisheries Department.
The department also advises against importing illegal items such as turmeric.
The Department of Fisheries says that Sri Lankan fishermen can be protected from covid risk by engaging in healthy fishing activities.
