Five killed in four road accidents yesterday

Five persons have been killed in four road accidents yesterday while several others were injured, the Police Media Unit stated. Two persons were killed in a road accident in the Parasangaswewa area in Anuradhapura yesterday. In the accident, a private bus collided head-on with a motorcycle. The motorcycle rider and the pillion rider were killed. The deceased were identified as residents of the Sadamalgama area in Rambewa. Meanwhile, one person has been killed in a road accident near the Pinnaduwa Police Station on the Southern Expressway. The accident took place when a lorry carrying cement collided with a cab. The deceased has been identified as a cab driver, a resident of Samanthurai. A 57-year-old man, who was a resident of Mahiyanganaya, was killed when his motorcycle was collided with a bus. Another fatal road accident took place in the Gokarella area yesterday when a lorry and a motorcycle collided head-on. The deceased has been identified as a 27 year old resident of Ibbagamuwa.
