Field Marshal  Sarath Fonseka today (7) commented on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's Independence Day attire. Rajapaksa was seen wearing his medals on a short-sleeved shirt during the Independence Day celebrations held at the Independence Square this week. Fonseka said Rajapaksa had disrespected the Medals of the Sri Lankan military with his chosen attire. "It is a joke that Rajapaksa wore his medals on a short-sleeved shirt.  Medals of the Sri Lankan military cannot be worn everywhere. There are certain ceremonies and places where one can display his/her medals,"  Fonseka pointed out. He said Rajapaksa as a senior citizen should set an example to the youth of the country.
