  • Also requests discussion with JVP
The Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) and the National People’s Power (NPP) have held a discussion about three key areas, including the abolition of the Executive Presidency on Tuesday (31) evening.  “The FSP requested a discussion with the NPP and we discussed the public struggle and how to achieve the public’s demands, State oppression following the 9 May incidents, the need to abolish the Executive Presidency, and political reform,” FSP Education Secretary Pubudu Jayagoda said while addressing the media following the meeting.  He added that while there are similarities and differences between the NPP and the FSP in certain areas, there is space for future discussions.  Jayagoda said that the FSP has also requested a discussion with the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), adding that it has held discussions with a number of Opposition parties over the past few days.  “We did not reach any final decision. The FSP and the NPP are two different political prongs. However, during oppression, there is no difference as we can work together to defeat that,” FSP Member Chandana Sirimalwatte told the media.  NPP Member K.D. Lalkantha noted that all progressive parties are on the same stance against oppression. “We built a common understanding but did not reach any final decision,” said Lalkantha.  Earlier this month, the FSP also held a discussion with the Tamil National Alliance (TNA).
