Gazette notification issued amending the maximum retail price of gas cylinders

A gazette notification has been issued fixing the maximum retail price of a domestic gas cylinder. The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has announced in the relevant gazette notification that this maximum retail price will be effective from yesterday (25). Accordingly, the maximum retail price of an 18 liter or 9.6 kg domestic gas cylinder containing LPG (LPG) has been announced as Rs. 1,150. However, the relevant prices can be changed at the district level and the maximum retail price in the Colombo and Gampaha districts is Rs. 1,150. The maximum retail price of a gas cylinder in the Kalutara District is Rs. 1,158 while in the Galle District it has been gazetted as Rs. 1,181. The highest price of a domestic gas cylinder can be sold in the Jaffna district at a maximum retail price of Rs. 1,259. In addition, another gazette notification has been issued making it mandatory to indicate the weight in kilograms of a domestic gas cylinder in a clearly visible place on the cylinder.
