Govt. to decide on Friday whether to declare further holidays
The Ministry of Public Administration said it will decide on Friday this week whether more public holidays will be decalred as a measure to contain he coronavirus.
Secretary to the Ministry S. Hettiarachchi speaking at a press conference today said that for now the public holiday will not be extended.
“After monitoring the virus situation over this week we should be able to decide whether we should declare more holidays,” Hettiarachchi added.
Meanwhile, the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) today requested the government to extend the Public Holiday for 1 week to minimize movement of people until the situation is reviewed, & shut down all ports of entries to the country for 2 weeks to control a coronavirus outbreak.
