Happinez picks : Skincare for the face
By Mahika Panditha
Our fashion and skincare segments are slowly but surely making a comeback alongside Sri Lanka adapting to the “new normal” which all of us are trying to return to after Covid-19. It is a very sunny time and as you all know, ‘tis the season to be at the beach. This would also mean there is a chance of sunburn and dry skin. Even though most of us have not started travelling just yet, tourism is a huge component of Sri Lanka’s economy, and we are definitely showing signs of recovery – I mean, have you seen the slashed prices hotels are offering?!
I personally suffer from dry skin all year round, so these products are some of my go-to items. I have probably said this time and time again: Taking care of your skin is of utmost importance. We will be focusing on the face today and later move onto more specifics like the lips, lashes, and brows over the course of the month. Because of the sheer hustle bustle of summertime, it is imperative that you lighten up your skincare routine and, of course, add in some more UV shielding products in there if you don’t already have some included. These products range from masks and mists to scrubs and serums!
Have a look and make sure to try them out this season.
Lotus Water Soothing Face Mist by Clay Skintreats
This beautiful mist is made from lotus extracts and is ideal for normal, combination, and dry skin. The purpose of the mist is to purify and tighten pores whilst refining the skin’s texture. This is the type of mist I would use all the time; in the morning before I put on my makeup and even as soon as I get out of the shower, in the middle of the day when it is super humid outside, and even when I come home and take my makeup off. It truly is a multipurpose product. And it looks super cute too.
C Boost Hydrating Face Mask by Body Glow by RSW
A brightening and exfoliating face mask, which I am 100% sure smells AMAZING, this mask has natural AHAs – from crushed citrus and turmeric to revitalising oils. What it is meant for is acne scars, dry skin, and discolouration, so I would recommend using it once or twice a week to get that beautiful and natural vitamin C glow! They deliver as well, so make sure you check out their Instagram page and get your own.
Eye Mask by Coffee Bean Body
These all-natural eye masks are sure to get rid of your dark circles this summer, even if you are up all night! Coffee Bean Body has formulated this from tea tree oil, plant-based oils, aloe vera, and Arabica coffee, all which will soothe your undereyes. The natural coffee oils will aid in soothing puffiness and dark circles. Throw it on in the morning when you are having your tea or coffee, wash it off, and you will be good to go! It comes in a cute little container too, so you can even reuse the jar. Check it out. I am sure you will love it.
White Jasmine Night Repair Face Treatment Oil by Spa Ceylon
This is actually a product I use daily; I use it every night and it works wonders, especially because I have acne-prone skin. It is fast absorbent and an overnight treatment that hydrates and nourishes your skin. It smells amazing as well and improves your night-time skincare routine. It works best when you layer it over a toner, especially because it is so lightweight. The bottle has a cute little dropper, so it is also easy to apply!
Purify Face Mask by Coast Botanics
This is a CLASSIC! It is such a minimalistic and gorgeously packaged item which makes it all the more necessary. There is so much dust in the air and that is not good for our skin at all. Who wants clogged pores? No one. Exactly. Coast Botanics has this mask full of activated charcoal, bentonite clay, and kaolin clay which help unclog your pores and cleanse your skin, getting rid of blackheads and any other bacteria too. It also helps brighten your skin, giving you a clearer, more glowing texture. Try it out! You can buy it from one of their stockists or even from them directly.
Organic Moringa Powder by Organic Life Teas
I know what you are thinking. This is a superfood to add to your smoothies and morning juices. However, moringa powder can be used topically as well! It is full of vitamins A, B, and C, and also riboflavin and iron. Of course, the latter are more in relation to when you ingest the powder but hey, why not make a mask out of it? Add some water or yogurt to make a paste and dab that on and keep for about 15 minutes till its try. This is a must-try!
Cocoa and Shea Mud Mask by Clay Skintreats
This looks so good and it’s conveniently named like a brownie! Mud masks are always a good option and should be used at least once a week. It effectively cleanses your skin by boosting the natural process and also binding toxins together. It is great for any skin type and is sure to regenerate and brighten your skin. I honestly adore the packaging and it smells amazing too! Check it out and let us know how you like it!
White Jasmine Day Hydrating Serum by Spa Ceylon
You guys, this combined with the night repair oil is just a bombshell duo! This is a non-oily and non-greasy serum you can use before applying your daily moisturiser and makeup, which helps to brighten the skin. It helps with improving your skin tone and even hydrates it due to the aloe vera in it. This is one of my absolute faves and I am in need of some more!
Shuadam Hydrogel Mask by Ari
Speaking of hydration, if you are into sheet masks, I highly recommend this. There are three masks in a pack but this one specifically nourishes and hydrates dry skin whilst also moisturising it. It is the perfect relaxation buddy that you should use at least once a week. This mask also provides nutrition and elasticity for your skin and also a beautiful glow! Check it out and make sure to get your spa day on with these.
