Hirunika alleges being followed by 'masked motorcyclists' after protest outside President's home

Further to the protest staged last week by the Samagi Jana Balawegeya (SJB) women’s wing Samagi Vanitha Balawegeya (SVB) National Organiser Hirunika Premachandra, Premachandra appeared on a facebook live video today (10) claiming that she and her family are being followed by 'masked men in motorcycles' and family phones have been tapped. Premachandra alleged earlier that informed sources have alerted her that there are plans to arrest those who organised the protest in front of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s residence in Mirihana last Saturday (5), including herself. "My children are very small, we have noticed some men in motorcycles have been following the children on the way to school. I went for a wedding yesterday, and behind my vehicle was two motorcyclists who followed my vehicle all the way to the venue. My phone and my husbands phone is tapped as well. We know that as a matter of fact. The President must remember, the protest was staged by women as a whole and not only one party. There were women who had voted for the SLPP and women who did not even vote. Women are facing difficulties and the peaceful protest was only done to ask answers from the leader of the country. Is that wrong?," Premachandra said. She further added that the women who had arrived for the protest are also at risk now as they have children as well and feel threatened. "The women who came for the protest are also in fear. They have families and they have children. Just because we were straight forward enough to stage a protest as women of this country, now we are followed and made to feel insecure," she added.
