Homecare programme for asymptomatic Covid patients soon

05 Aug 2021

An integrated homecare based programme for asymptomatic Covid-19 patients is expected to begin from 09 August. Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi notes that such patients will be under relevant medical supervision. This comes in the backdrop of a sudden increase in the number of Covid-19 patients being hospitalised. The Morning reported today that the capacity of the units allocated for the treatment of Covid-19 patients at hospitals have reached their limits, leaving many patients without beds. Accordingly, the Karapitiya, Ragama, and Ratnapura Teaching Hospitals are among the worst hit in the island, with many patients seen seated or lying on the hospital floors with no beds being available for them.
