I made a commitment to allocate Rs 50mn monthly for SL: Dhammika Perera

28 Jun 2022

I have allocated a sum of Rs 50 million monthly which I had already set aside to put into Sri Lanka and this is a personal commitment from my side for my nation and I do not intend to take Government funds for whatsoever reason, said Investment Promotion Minister Dhammika Perera during an interview recently. "Dhammika Perera is the kind of person who can get things done overnight. If I want something I will not be wasting months by calling for tenders, but I will go ahead and purchase what I need overnight with my own funds. I had already thought about this when I took up this position. The main assets in this country is our citizens and my ambition is to streamline their thoughts and bring them onto the correct track," said Minister Perera. He further noted that he joined the government after much consideration to help the citizens of the country. "I have been patiently watching what has been happening and because I see that the country is falling, and after much consideration, I decided to join the Government. Whatever I can do within my strengths and abilities, I will surely support the Government in doing so. At the end of the day, I am working for the citizens of the country," said Perera. When questioned for how long he intends to hold position in Parliament, Perera stated that for as long as it is required and until the people of the nation are satisfied. "My mother told me that I am doing a service to the nation and until the belly's of the citizens are no longer in hunger, I will do my part. My wife and children told me that if I stay in position for 6 months, the people of the nation will hold placards and ask for my resignation. When this was told to me, I calculated that 6 months is 960 hours and that is the duration I must stay in my ministerial portfolio. If I do not do anything positive in the 960 hours of work, I will go home," he noted.
