19 Apr 2021

Pushpika De Silva, who was crowned as Mrs. Sri Lanka 2020, has stated that she will take legal action against those responsible for insulting her through the media. This was after appearing in court due to the riot that took place during the Mrs. Sri Lanka pageant held at the Nelum Pokuna Theater in Colombo recently. The suspects involved in the incident, Caroline Jurie, and model Chula Padmendra were released on Rs. 100,000 bail each by the Colombo Magistrate's Court today (19). Afterwards, Pushpika De Silva exited the court premises and expressed her views to the media. “I am really sorry about this problem. I did not want to take this issue too far. This is something that affects not only me but the whole country. They were the ones who wanted legal action. In fact, today our case has become a government case. Now I am just a witness. They continue to insult me through other media. I seek the assistance of the law to do justice to the injustice done to me in future with my lawyer," she stated to the media.
