ICUs see halved Covid-19 admissions

14 Oct 2021

Intensive Care Units in hospitals across the country have seen the number of Covid-19 patient admissions halve, according to the Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena. He expressed such statements at a press conference held today (14). Despite this, it was pointed out that a risk of further spread of Covid-19 is still present as it has been observed that some members of the general public are failing to follow health guidelines inclusive of wearing face masks. Therefore, the Director General of Health Services highlighted the importance of the civic responsibility of the public in this regard. It was also detailed that existing restrictions in terms of travel and other regulations to curb the spread of the virus will be reviewed tomorrow (15) at the Covid-19 task force meeting.
