I'm ready to resign from SLFP: Dayasiri

09 Jul 2021

Minister of State Dayasiri Jayasekara has stated that he is ready to resign from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Parliamentary Group. He was speaking to the media after a meeting of the Central Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party yesterday (08). "I have made a statement to our parliamentary groups that I am ready to resign. Not because anyone asked. If our party decides, if the Central Committee of the party decides, if the party leader says please leave, I am ready to step down and give my seat," he said. Meanwhile, commenting on a recent statement made by Minister of State Dilum Amunugama regarding the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Dayasiri Jayasekara said that it is hypocritical to forget the events of history. "Without the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, there would be no government today. Not even the President would be elected. I would like to tell Mr. Dilum Amunugama about the underestimation of this victory and look back at what happened in history," he said. Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) will resume organizing activities after easing active travel restrictions, said its chairman, former President Maithripala Sirisena.
