The Government of India has decided to grant over 500,000 vaccines manufactured in India to Sri Lanka and the consignment is scheduled to be arrived on Thursday, the government said today.
Earlier, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa said 600,000 vaccines would be received from India on Wednesday.
However, the government said today that, "In view of the long standing relationship between Sri Lanka and India and the cooperation between the two countries in face of the COVID-19 epidemic over the past year, India has decided to grant over 500,000 vaccines to Sri Lanka."
