Indian Army Chief due to arrive tomorrow

The Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army (COAS) General Manoj Mukund Naravane, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, ADC, including his spouse and a five member delegation is due to arrive in Sri Lanka tomorrow (12) on a five-day long goodwill tour. Naravane accepted the invitation by Sri Lanka's Army Commander General Shavendra Silva. This was confirmed through a Media Release from the Sri Lanka Army Headquarters. During his stay, Naravane is scheduled to pay courtesy calls on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, State Minister of National Security, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence General Kamal Gunaratne (Retd.), Secretary to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, High Commissioner of India, Chief of Defense staff and Commander of the Army Shavendra Silva, and Commanders of the Navy and Air Force. Additionally, Naravane will be visiting the Gajaba Regiment Regimental Day commemorative ceremonials at Saliyapura and is due to be honoured in a parade before joining the presentation of driving and firing simulators to the school of Sri Lanka Army Service Corps in Anuradhapura on the 14th of October. He will also witness the final demonstration of the ongoing bilateral exercise 'Mitra Shakthi' at Maduru Oya Special Forces Training School. The delegation including the spouse of Naravane, Mrs Veena Naravane, The President, Army Wives Welfare Association, Major General Rajeev Thapar, Major General General Staff, HQ Army Training Command, Major General Vikrant Naik, Military Assistant to the COAS and Colonel Mandeep Singh Dhillon is also set to pay homage to the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya and a few other places.
