A sample from a foreign returnee who tested positive for Covid-19 has turned out to be that of the Indian variant of the Covid-19 virus (Variant B1.617), Dr Chandima Jeewandara of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura revealed today (8).
The returnee is currently housed in a quarantine centre.
