With the identification of a new strain of the Covid-19 virus, the rate of spread of the virus is at a very high level, says Dr. Sudath Samaraweera, Head of the Epidemiology Unit.
The Head of the Epidemiology Unit mentioned this during a media briefing held this morning (04).
"With the change in the variant of the Covid-19 virus, the spread of the virus has accelerated. There is another variant of this virus in India and Sri Lanka is at risk as it may enter our country," he said.
Speaking further Dr. Sudath Samaraweera said, "We are working to set up more intermediate treatment centers and provide beds for the sick."
