An islandwide protest against the Government is to be held tomorrow (28) with the participation of all sectors including trade unions (TUs), civil organisations, and religious leaders.
Speaking to The Morning, the organisers of the protest said that they invite all members of the public to participate in the protest by carrying and raising a black flag or a slogan on a black backdrop, and coming onto the streets after 2 p.m.
“We have mainly organised two protests with one being the islandwide protest and the other being the main protest starting from the Kollupitiya junction,” they said.
The protest march starting from the Kollupitiya junction at 2 p.m., passing the protest site of “GotaGoGama” at Galle Face and the Galle Face Green, will end at the President’s house located down Janadhipathi Mawatha, Colombo. The protestors are planning to read out a statement in all three languages and hand it over to the President’s house.
