LPL 2021 Match 13: After 13 off 20 league games, Jaffna lead table with four out of five

Jaffna Kings stamped their authority yet again when they went on to beat Kandy Warriors by seven wickets under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) Method in a rain-reduced encounter, the 12th match, in the current Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2021 played at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo on Sunday (12).

The match commenced with Kandy Warriors taking first lease of the wicket. Then play had to be halted for the first time after seven overs with the Warriors placed at 47/1. With the recommencement, after the initial rain break, the Warriors faced another 5.2 overs taking their score to 94/2 when rain halted play yet again.

Thereafter the match officials inspecting the pitch and ground conditions decided that the Jaffna Kings be set a revised DLS target of 95 to be scored off 10 overs.

The reigning champs Kings from the North, then made easy work in getting to their target, when Upul Tharanga (13) and Avishka Fernando, (23) giving them a brisk start. Finally skipper Thisara Perera smashed four fours and a six to remain 29 not out to see his team through.
