Maj. General Jagath Alwis has tendered his resignation as the Secretary to the Ministry of Public Security a short while ago.
Earlier today Gen. Alwis arrived at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to give his statement in regards to the incident that took place on the 9th of May at Gotagogama and Mynagogama.
