Chief Government Whip and Minister of Highways Johnston Fernando yesterday (22) visited Mirigama to inspect the progress of constructing a road linked to the Mirigama Interchange of the Second Phase of the Central Expressway.
A media release from the Ministry of Highways stated that it has been planned to construct an alternative route connecting Mirigama town with the interchange to alleviate the traffic congestion that could arise after opening the Mirigama-Kurunegala section of the expressway. The minister also inspected the progress of constructing a vehicle park there.
Associated with the minister at the inspection were MP Kokila Gunawardena, religious leaders of the area, and ministry officials.
