Litro reduces prices after announcing profit

The price of Litro domestic liquid petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders have been reduced with effect from midnight yesterday (8), Litro Gas Lanka Ltd. Chairman Muditha Peiris told The Morning yesterday. Accordingly, the price of a 12.5 kg cylinder has been reduced by Rs. 246, with the price of a 5 kg cylinder reduced by Rs. 99, and that of a 2.3 kg cylinder by Rs. 45. “The price of domestic LPG cylinders will be reduced with effect from tonight, and correspondingly, the price of a 12.5 kg cylinder will be reduced by Rs. 246, making the cylinder Rs. 4,664 in price, while the 5 kg cylinder will be reduced by Rs. 99, making the cylinder Rs. 1,872, and the 2.3 kg cylinder will be reduced by Rs. 45, making the cylinder Rs. 869,” said Peiris. On Sunday (7), Peiris announced at a press conference that Litro Gas turned a profit in July this year for the first time in several years. “After many years, Litro turned into an organisation that earns a fair amount of profit, in July. It is a good omen from the people’s side, because as a people’s organisation owned by the Government, there has been a large amount of debt in the past years to maintain the organisation.”  Litro said that in order to resolve the shortage of domestic LPG cylinders in the country, about 2.7 million such cylinders were released to the market in the last 22 days.
