[caption id="attachment_87232" align="alignright" width="225"] Angela Seneviratne[/caption] Angela Seneviratne is one of those rare names that don’t require an introduction.  Best known for her contributions to Sinhala cinema, television, and both English and Sinhala theatre, it would be hard not to recognise Seneviratne. Be it for her work in film and theatre or for her witty columns in a number of English publications, Seneviratne’s charm and flair have found her a special place in the heart of Colombo, if not the whole nation. Following a long-term position as Secretary to the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, Seneviratne moved on to make her mark in the field of corporate and motivational training, using her unique experiences to give back to the community.

2020: Seneviratne’s ‘annus horribilis’

2020 saw Seneviratne focus solely on writing, before facing a very personal struggle, made all the worse by the pandemic.  Following a very severe attack of vertigo, Seneviratne found herself confined to her bed for over a month in March, which led straight into lockdown.  At the beginning of  May, Seneviratne found herself feeling unwell once again, and a precautionary blood test led her to close consultation with the Nephrology Team at the Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital, under the purview of Dr. Chula Herath, and the unexpected and troubling diagnosis of end-stage kidney failure.  With the severity of her condition, Seneviratne was left with two daunting courses of action – to let nature take its course and let her body shut down or begin dialysis and pursue a kidney transplant. 

In need of a champion

With her children in lockdown overseas and no other family to lean on in this terrible time, it is necessary for Seneviratne to find a compatible donor willing to donate their kidney and help her gain a new lease on life.  She is looking for a healthy organ donor aged between 30 and 45 who is of blood group A+. Prospective donors must be strong-minded, focused, and willing to cooperate with Seneviratne’s medical team, following requirements and instructions as needed ahead of surgery to ensure maximum compatibility and the highest chance of success.  While the journey will be a difficult one for Seneviratne, her donor can expect a swift surgery and easy recovery.
