Sri Lanka is set to receive a Euro 11 million grant from the German government to establish a German technical training institute in Matara, according to the Finance Ministry.
In a statement the Ministry said that the German government has agreed to provide this grant as a result of a request that was made by Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera in 2015 in his capacity as Foreign Minister.
The Sri Lanka-German Training Institute (SLGTI) in Kilinochchi was established in 2016 following a similar request by Samraweera in 2015.
