Mahela summoned before Sports Ministry’s Investigations Unit tomorrow

Former Sri Lanka Cricketer Mahela Jayawardene has been summoned before the Sports Ministry’s Special Investigations Unit tomorrow (3) to record a statement. Jayawardene has been summoned over the match-fixing allegations made by former Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage on the 2011 World Cup finals between Sri Lanka and India. Jayawardene, was the vice-captain of the Sri Lankan national cricket team that reached the final of the 2011 World Cup. Former Sri Lanka Cricketer Kumar Sangakkara provided a near 9 hour long statement before the Sports Ministry’s Special Investigations Unit today. Former Sri Lankan Cricketer Upul Tharanga and former cricket captain and the head of the cricket selection committee at the time of the alleged incident, Aravinda de Silva,  have already recorded statements with the Ministry over Aluthgamage’s allegations.
