The Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) says it has begun calculating the environmental damage caused by the X-Press Pearl crisis.
Its chairperson, Attorney-at-Law Dharshani Lahandapura, said that several divisions were working together to ascertain how much damage has been sustained so far.
Attorney-at-Law Dharshani Lahandapura further stated that the relevant calculations will be carried out to cover all sectors and it will take some time.
She also stated that discussions were held with the Attorney General regarding the action to be taken in this regard.
