A mobile phone has been found buried at the Angunakolapelessa Prison near the Prison ward where Ranjan Ramanayake and others are being detained, Prisons Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said today. “According to the information received, the prison intelligence unit officers raided the Special Division Y Ward. A Samsung J2 mobile phone was found buried in the ground between the Y ward and the prison wall,” Ekanayake said. He said Ramanayake and several other prisoners are being held in this Y Section. “It is not yet confirmed whether this phone has been brought into the Prison premises to be delivered to prisoner Ranjan Ramanayake and investigations are underway. The mobile phone is to be handed over to the CID for further investigations,” Ekanayake stated.
