Three more arrested in connection with the online sale of a 15-year-old girl

Three more suspects have been arrested for abusing a 15-year-old girl who was sold online, Police Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said. Accordingly, 21 persons who abused the girl have been arrested so far. Among those arrested yesterday was the Deputy Chairman of the Mihintale Pradeshiya Sabha and a businessman, said Police Media Spokesman, Senior DIG Ajith Rohana. A resident of Panadura who had assisted in selling the girl through the internet was also arrested yesterday. The three arrested are due to be produced before the Hulftsdorp Magistrate's Court today (01). The police spokesman said that one of the suspects was arrested in the Wellawatte area yesterday while he was engaging with another woman involved in the sex trade. Seventeen people were arrested yesterday and one earlier in connection with the incident. Among those arrested were the girl's mother, the mistress of the man who sold the girl, two three-wheeler and car drivers who took the girl to each location, and the man who created the advertisement and the man in the robe. It has been reported that the girl was sold for Rs. 10,000, Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 30,000 each for about 3 months for sexual activities.
