Museums and archaeological sites to reopen for local tourists from 1st July

All archaeological sites, monuments, museums and galleries in Sri Lanka, will reopen for local tourists from 01 July, the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Cultural and Religious Affairs said.

The measure has been taken based on the improving Covid-19 situation in the country and the necessity to bring to normalcy the livelihoods attached to culture tourism.

The Department of Archaeology, Central cultural Fund, Department of National Museum, Department of National Archives will put forth safety measures based on guidelines issued by the Health Ministry.

Public has been requested to cooperate with the relevant officials.
